Summer recap

It’s been a while, I know. I mean, I don’t think anybody is reading this blog so I’m not too concerned about posting frequency, but I’m aware that if I do have any readers, waiting four months between posts is not a great way to keep them.

We’ve been having just incredible sex. For a run of about 2 months, averaging two nights a week, it just got better and better and better. My mouth skills have been on fire, and her mouth skills are just driving me completely wild. But the main thing is we’ve been so crazily connected almost all of the time. Some sessions have been longer, some shorter, but for a very long run and a huge proportion of the entire summer and first month of fall, we’ve had “better than ever” nights, each seemingly better than the last.

So it’s all good. We’ve had some stressful things happen, but we’re good. If I were doing this weekly or even monthly I’d write about some specific nights and specific events. But too many have piled up. If I told you about any of them, you’d miss out on the bigger picture, which is that we are doing better than ever, which feels great. But there have absolutely been some developments–things we’ve done where we’ve gone further than before, etc. Just so you know.

What I will write about is this: the availability and consistency of medical marijuana products is infuriating. For most of the summer we were doing a high-THC tincture from Organic Remedies brand. It was 40mg/ml. We got used to the right amount to use, and things were great all summer. Then we ran out, and in typical fashion, we couldn’t buy that brand/model again. Again, we got the highest-concentrated tincture we could get (basically because they all taste disgusting, so we want one that we can eat as little of as possible), a Pure Penn brand with (nominally) 25mg/ml. So if we did 0.75ml before, for 30mg, it would now be 1.20 ml. If we did 0.50ml before, for 20mg, it would now be 0.80ml. Right?

So, no. We did that and we just got high enough. But you never know; maybe our stomachs were too full or who knows what. Sometimes there’s a little variability. So the next night, when we’d come home from an event having drunk about 2-3 glasses of wine each, we didn’t risk increasing the amount. And we didn’t get high at all. It was so annoying. Alcohol dampens the effects, but it shouldn’t ruin it completely. So I can only conclude that this bottle of Pure Penn isn’t nearly as strong as it claims.

Remember, this isn’t like smoking where you can just do a little more. When it takes ~2 hours to kick in, sometimes 3 or even longer, you don’t want to go taking more too early and risk getting crazy high; nor do you want to wait three hours and then take more because a) you’ll never get the amount right, since you’re coming down slowly off the first dose but you don’t know how far along you are, and b) that would be like midnight or 1am, and you’d still be high when you woke up in the morning. You get the idea–when the first dose is not enough, you’re in for an hours-long haul of being irritated.

I think I mentioned this before: I’m pretty sure that we’ve never been able to buy the same product twice. Like literally not once have I gone back to any marijuana store and seen the same product I bought at some point before. Sometimes you’ll see the same line from the same brand, but that’s rare and even so, the concentration of THC will be different. Why, I have no idea. I can only guess that the producers are still experimenting, trying to find what sells best, and maybe that since every crop of the plants is different, maybe you just can’t control everything. But it’s fucking annoying and it kind of undermines the whole “medical” claim about this plant. If we can’t even dose consistently, it’s not medicine. I’m not saying it doesn’t work–it does. I’m saying it’s just more evidence that we’re doing this for the fun of it and the whole medical idea is just a ruse.
